Want to try a change of pace in your dog’s diet? Try baking your own dog treats! Here’s a simple, homemade treat recipe can turn a boring afternoon into an adventure for your dog’s tastebuds and your baking skills!
We put together a basic, 3 ingredient recipe that will give both you and your dog the chance to try something new!

Peanut Butter, Banana, & Oat Biscuits
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients
– 1 1/2 cups gluten-free old-fashioned rolled oats
– 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
– 1 large ripe banana (or 2 medium bananas), smashed

Instructions
– Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
– Use a blender to grind the oats until they become a smooth powder
– In a bowl, mash together the banana and peanut butter until smooth
– Leave out a tablespoon of ground oatmeal for rolling your dough, then pour the rest of the oatmeal into the bowl and mix all until combined
– Dust your rolling surface with the separate tablespoon of ground oatmeal and roll your dough to about a 1/4 inch thickness
– Use cutouts, or cut your own shapes, and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper
– Bake treats for approximately 15 minutes, or until the edges start to brown
– Let cool completely before feeding to your dog

Notes From the Kitchen
– Add additional peanut butter if the dough is too dry or additional oats if too sticky.
– Pick a peanut butter that does not contain xylitol, because this ingredient is harmful to dogs. We picked Maranatha because it is organic!
– The riper your bananas, the better! While brown bananas are less aesthetically pleasing, they have more flavor for your pet to enjoy!
– Make sure to always do your homework before feeding your pet a new food. The easiest way to do that is to limit the number of treats you give them immediately. While everything in these treats is 100% safe for dogs, some dogs have more sensitive stomachs. No one wants to be stuck inside and have a cramping belly.
