Preparation. It has saved us all before. If our horse gets into an accident, the last thing we need is to be scrambling around trying to locate supplies. Now, with one of FarmVet’s newest additions, preparation is easier than ever. Our new EquiMedic First Aid Kits are fully equipped to treat cuts or wounds on your own or to hold over until the vet arrives. We’ll walk you through the differences between each of these kits so you can find the one that suits your needs.
Small Barn First Aid Kit
This is labeled as a “small” first aid kit, but it is actually the largest that we offer at FarmVet. And it is packed with supplies. Weighing in at about 12 pounds when fully stocked, this kit contains a large variety of supplies. It has enough quantity to treat one to three horses. You will have multiple types of dressings and bandages available, along with gloves, applicators, and disinfectant washes and wipes. Additionally, it is stocked with a digital thermometer, syringes, and needles in multiple sizes.
The bag has large compartments for easy organization without loss of space. As time goes on, easily restock as you need supplies. It is portable and has easy carrying straps but is likely the kit you want to always keep at your barn. For travel, we have a better option.
Small Trailering First Aid Kit
This first aid kit deserves a spot in every equine trailer to keep your horse safe in case of an emergency. Although it’s designed for easy travel and portability, you’ll have no shortage of supplies. It contains 47 unique products and 180 total items, so you have everything you need while on the road. From gauze and bandages, syringes and needles, instant cold packs, and even an emergency blanket, this First Aid Kit is designed with travel emergencies in mind.
For convenient carrying, the bag has a top handle and weighs only about 9 pounds. Additionally, it can be unzipped and unrolled, then hung from a hook onto your trailer for easy access during times of need.
Basic Equine First Aid Kit
This is the smallest of the EquiMedic First Aid Kits at FarmVet, but it is still loaded with the necessities. The kit contains an essential mix of wound treatment and medical products for in the barn or while traveling. It only weighs around 5 pounds, making it easy to keep with you on the move.
From sanitizing towelettes and antiseptic ointment to cotton rolls, eyewash, and even a flashlight, this durable bag has it all. It is packed with everything you need to treat minor wounds or triage your horse until the vet arrives. The clear laminated pocket leaves a quick reference where your horse’s name, veterinarian’s name, or other emergency contact information is visible. It is also packed with enough supplies to treat up to three horses and has multiple compartments for organizing. And you now have a guide for what to restock for years to come.
